The Nebraska Cornhuskers have added another walk-on to the roster with a recruit from the 2023 recruiting class. That and more in today’s news.
Lincoln High’s Kenneth Williams announced on Twitter that he’s joined the Nebraska football team. The athlete can play a number of different positions, but the new addition’s real selling point is his blazing speed.
At the 2023 NSAA Class A Track and Field Championship, he finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.52. That number put him just behind new teammate Jaylen Llloyd who posted a 10.47 time. Williams finished ahead of another future teammate, Isaiah McMorris who who ran a 10.65 to finish third.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have gone hard after speed since Matt Rhule got to town. They’ve plumbed all kinds of different avenues to do it.
Roger Craig gets big endorsement
Former Nebraska Cornhuskers star running back Roger Craig is making a push for the Hall of Fame. In fact, he’s gotten farther than he ever has before when it comes to the voting.
It’s not a done deal yet, but Craig got some former rivals to speak up on his behalf and make it clear they think he deserves to wear a gold jersey.
Former NFL safety Vincent Newsome is one of a couple of players who recently talked to NBC Sports about how great a runner Craig was.
"“He had these big saucer eyes and you’d see him coming downhill. He knew when he was going to have contact and he’d cover the ball with both arms. Then those knees would be high and he’d just lower himself like a ball. And if you see the tape, we literally fell off of him, and I thought I was a pretty darn good tackler.”"
