Former Nebraska Cornhuskers star Cam Jurgens is continuing to beef up for his new role. That and more in today’s news installment.

Jurgens is transitioning from center to right guard, where he’s expected to start for the Philadelphia Eagles in his second season in the NFL. Part of that transition has been putting on some pounds.

Through the first five practices, Jurgens’ approach appears to be working as onlookers believe he is the easy leader in the clubhouse at the moment. Part of the reason he looks like the winner is because he’s put on a bunch of weight.

Jurgens is currently listed at 6-foot-3 and 303 pounds. He recently talked to NBC Sports about his approach and the former Nebraska Cornhuskers star has a simple plan.

"“Eat what tastes good. I had two ribeye steaks last night for dinner. Charles in the cafeteria makes a mean ribeye.”"

Ben Scott named to watch list

The Nebraska football team is hoping that Ben Scott can be one of the best centers in the game. It appears there are some national analysts who believe he could be exactly that.

Scott is the Nebraska Cornhuskers representative on the Rimington Watch List. The award is for the best center in the country.

Scott is in his first season at Nebraska in 2023 after transferring from Arizona State. He spent four seasons with the Sun Devils, redshirting in 2019 before starting 28 games from 2020 to 2022. Last season, Scott was Arizona State’s starting center after starting at right tackle during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He helped Arizona State rank seventh nationally in rushing during the shortened 2020 season.

Nebraska Cornhuskers entering a new era

Now that Oregon and Washington are members of the Big Ten, there’s been more than a few articles about the Huskers history against the newest additions to the conference. However, one stands out from the pack.

Dave Feit of Husker Max recently wrote about the recent realignment stuff is quite a bit like a game of Risk. For now, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are feeling pretty safe. But that’s only for now. It’s a good comparison worth a read.

Roy Helu opens up

The Carriker Chronicles are back after a prolonged absence and former Nebraska football star Adam Carriker has come back with a vengeance. His latest installment, which aired on Friday, has the former defensive lineman talk to one of the better Husker running backs in the modern era.

Roy Helu talks about his time with the Nebraska Cornhuskers including something called, Naked Foam Rolling.

Devine Ozigbo gets another shot

There was no one who benefitted more from the Scott Frost era of Nebraska football than Devine Ozigbo. After never rushing for more than 500 yards in his first three seasons, he exploded on the scene in Frost’s first year with 1,082 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Now he’s trying to forge an NFL career and the former Nebraska Cornhuskers star is getting one more shot to do that as he’s worked out for the Carolina Panthers this week. Ozigbo has spent time with the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints and Jacksonville Jaguars.
