Nebraska football vs the Big 12

One of the most interesting things about the fact that there are three teams in the Big 12 that Nebraska football is undefeated against is that none of the three were in the Big 12 when the Huskers were romping through the conference.

The other interesting little tidbit is that while the Huskers are just 3-0 against the three teams in the B12, two of those wins were shutout victories.

West Virginia: The Nebraska football team opened their national title quest in 1994 with a 31-0 shellacking of the Mountaineers. Perhaps that’s why the Cornhuskers have never been able to work out a way for the two schools to play each other again.

Cincinnati: The Bearcats are joining the Big 12 this season and it’s possible in the very near future Cincy will match up against the Cornhuskers for the first time since 1906. Even way back then, it appears that UC was no match for the team that had just recently shed it’s name as the Bug Eaters. NU won that historic tilt, 41-0.

Central Florida: Long before UCF’s former head coach was hired by the Nebraska football program the two schools faced off in 1997. Like West Virginia, this game was in a season when the Cornhuskers won a National Title. Unlike that game against the Mountaineers, this wasn’t quite a cakewalk. NU beat the Golden Knights 38-24 but it was one of those games that had Husker fans nervous for quite a while.
