The Nebraska football team has had a ton of success recruiting the last few days, but it does appear they are on the outside looking in for a couple of WRs.

It’s been a long time since the Nebraksa football team was on the kind of roll it’s on right now. The 2024 class now has 22 additions and Rhule doesn’t seem like he’s expecting to be done anytime soon.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that two wide receivers that the Huskers looked like they were making headway on might be backpedaling from Lincoln at high rates of speed. It certainly wouldn’t be the end of the world if Rhule and company lost out on Ernest Campbell and Jacory Barney, but there was hope not all that long ago that both might be headed to Lincoln.

Nebraska football losing ground on Ernest Campbell

Of the two receivers, the one whose loss would arguably hurt the most would be Ernest Campbell. The Refugio, Texas speed burner was in Lincoln last weekend. By all accounts he loved what the Huskers had to offer.

There was some discussion that he might be one of the guys who committed to Nebraska before the weekend was out. That didn’t happen. He hasn’t committed this week either.

Now it appears he’s back to leaning heavily towards Texas A&M. That makes sense obviously. The Aggies have been very good at recruiting over the last few years. And of course, he’d be staying home.

It’s just unfortunate that the Huskers weren’t able to close Campbell when he was right there to grab. Jacory Barney is a slightly different story.

The 3-star Miami Palmetto receiver named the Nebraska football team in his Top 3. However, it’s felt like he was almost certainly going to be Hurricane for quite a while now. The good news here is that the Huskers have a young, talented receiver room. And there’s still more who could be coming to Lincoln before long.
