The Nebraska Cornhuskers are on the hunt for another transfer point guard and now Kerr Kriisa is back on the market after Bob Huggins’ ouster.

Fred Hoiberg has had a pretty decent offseason as he tries to reload and continue rebuilding. The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team has landed a few transfers expected to help the team improve from a 2021-2022 campaign that saw Hoiberg avoid a losing record for the first time in his Nebraska career.

One of the Huskers’ targets is a player that they have already lost out on once. That’s the bad news. The good news is that most people believe they finished second to West Virginia.

Kerr Kriisa picked the Mountaineers when Bob Huggins was the head coach. He’s not there anymore after his incredible mistake of driving under the fluence. The former Arizona Wildcats’ point guard is now back in the transfer portal.

Obviously, the point guard being back on the market doesn’t mean it’s a done deal for the Huskers. Hoiberg is going to need to find the magic formula to close the deal this time. It should surprise no one that part of the formula is apparently NIL money.

Nebraska Cornhuskers not alone

There are also reports that Cincinnati and Memphis are going to be going hard after Kriisa this time around. It’s never a good thing when a program like the Nebraska Cornhuskers are going up against basketball royalty.

On the other hand, especially when it comes to Memphis, the Tigers might have a big strike against them. Head coach Penny Hardaway just got suspended for next season’s first three games. Does Kriisa want to go from a program where the head coach was just fired to a program where the head coach got caught violating NCAA rules?

Certainly, there are other factors that are bigger. But the Nebraska Cornhuskers badly want the point guard who averaged 9.9 points and 5.1 assists per game last year. Hoiberg should use every argument to his advantage. The good news is that the Kerr Kriisa situation will likely resolve itself soon.
