Nebraska football fans didn’t get the “darling boy” QB of the 2024 class, but all signs are pointing to one of the best of the 2025 class, leaning NU.

By now, Nebraska football fans are likely quite familiar with the name Stone Saunders. The Pennsylvania quarterback has been talked about as one of the best signal callers in the 2025 class. He appears to be the top target of Rhule and company in that class.

Stone Saunders appears to be very familiar with Nebraska football and what it has to offer. Even better than him being familiar with the program is that he seems to like it quite a bit.

His interest in the Huskers is genuine to a degree that the 4-star prospect is taking his third trip to Lincoln this weekend. All three visits so far are of the unofficial variety, which is even more impressive and seems to be an even better sign of just where Nebraska football currently stands.

The big question is whether or not Saunders might be nearing feeling comfortable enough to pull the trigger on a commitment. It would certainly still be fairly early in the process for that commitment to feel very “binding,” but it would still be a great step in the right direction.

Nebraska football looking to real in 2025 quarterback soon

The Huskers have been pursuing Saunders almost from the very first when Matt Rhule arrived in town. That has to be one of the reasons they’re considered the front runners now a little over eight months after starting the pursuit.

The Nebraska football team still has a long row to hoe in getting Saunders to sign on the dotted line, even if he does commit relatively soon. His offer list is a who’s who of college football royalty. Georgia, Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Wisconsin are all in on the signal caller. According to On3, the Huskers are currently the slight front runner with A&M close behind.

The Nebraska football coaching staff will get a chance to make another argument for Stone Saunders wearing Husker colors in 2025 on Saturday. It’s not likely a closing argument but has a chance to getting closer to closing down his recruitment if all goes as hoped.
