Nebraska football keeps close tabs on Stone Saunders
One of the top 2025 quarterbacks in the country, Stone Saunders has been hearing from plenty of schools. That includes Nebraska football early and often.
The Nebraska football team has its 2024 quarterback recruit in Daniel Kaelin. Now it’s time to start looking for its 2025 quarterback recruit or even recruits. It sure seems as though Matt Rhule and company have zeroed in on who they really want and it’s the same quarterback prospect they’ve been zeroing in on since this winter.
Stone Saunders is one of the best players in the entire 2025 class and also obviously one of the best players in the state of Pennsylvania. He’s someone who comes from an area of the country that Rhule is certainly comfortable with and that has seemingly been a good connection for the quarterback and coach.
It also shouldn’t be a surprise that when Matt Rhule decides he wants a quarterback, he goes after him whole hog. The Nebraska football staff delighted Husker fans for months by the way it went after Dylan Raiola when it appeared there was a chance he could be a Husker. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that when Saunders recently talked about who he’s heard from the most, the Cornhuskers were at the top of the list.

Saunders recapped his recruitment a bit when talking to Rivals earlier this week and he made it clear that the Huskers are checking in regularly.
"“The schools I’ve probably been talking to the most are Clemson, Kentucky, Nebraska, Miami and then Michigan and a couple of others.”"
That quote also shows that the 4-star quarterback isn’t yet Nebraska’s to lose. Clemson and Kentucky, as well as Michigan, are going to be tough to beat. It’s also interesting that the Huskers are so in on a prospect that is known as a pro-style quarterback.
It’s good to hear that Nebraska football is still hard-charging after Stone Saunders. He’s one of the best of his class and there hasn’t been much movement from him of late. There’s a long way to the finish line, but the Huskers are in the race.
