The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team go the news it was waiting on when they were left out of the NCAA Tournament during Monday’s regional reveal.

Memorial Day morning brought some rather bad news for the Husker faithful. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are officially on the outside looking in of the NCAA Regionals. While it’s not a surprise by any stretch, it was a bit of a dagger to the heart to know that Nebraska is now alone with the Cal Golden Bears as the only two Power 5 programs to miss the postseason in all three major men’s sports the last two years.

It was considered a foregone conclusion when the Nebraska Cornhuskers lost to the Maryland Terapins on Saturday but Monday’s selection show threw the last shovel of dirt on the Huskers’ grave.

While Monday brought bad news for Nebraska, there were three Big Ten teams that got some rather good news. Iowa appears to be the program that should be popping champagne corks the most, even if they lost in the Big 10 Tournament finals.

Maryland, who won the B1G in both the regular season and the tournament seemingly got dealt the worst hand. They’ll play in the Winston-Salem Regional. That’s the same regional where the number 1 overall seed, Wake Forest is playing.

Meanwhile, Indiana might be a number 3 seed, it feels like they have an easier field when it comes to getting to the Super Regionals. They are going to Lexington where Kentucky is the top seed and Ball State and West Virginia view for the next round as well.

As for the aforementioned Hawkeyes? They’re the 2 seed in the Terre Haute regional, hosted by Indiana State. Wright State and North Carolina are the other teams on that side of the bracket.

Depending on how they usually view games where Big Ten rivals are playing, Nebraska Cornhuskers fans will get to try and root for the conference to do everyone proud, or start to root for misery for fans of Indiana, Maryland and Iowa starting on Friday, June 2
