The Nebraska football team wants Isaiah McMorris badly, but now they have a brand new competitor from inside the conference to fight off.

The Nebraska football team knows quite well that when it comes to in-state players, it’s going to have some big-time competition. That doesn’t make it any easier when a team like Wisconsin comes calling for one of the best players in the state.

The Huskers and Badgers are massive competitors on the field. Isaiah McMorris has now made the two programs competitors in the recruiting arena as well.

The question now is whether or not the Nebraska football team can lock down one of the best players in the state. That question looms a bit larger after what happened earlier this week.

Nebraska football has B1G competition

Since Matt Rhule has taken over the Cornhuskers, it’s appeared that the program has made plenty of inroads with the best talent in Nebraska. However, there was a rather high-profile miss last week in the form of Teddy Rezac.

For whatever reason, Rhule and company took quite a bit of time coming up with an official offer. One day after they finally made it, Rezac committed to Notre Dame.

The Nebraska football team doesn’t have the same problem with McMorris. They offered early enough that they got their foot in the door safely. But now that Wisconsin has made an official offer, it seems likely that there’s a bit of added pressure.

On the other hand, the Nebraska football knows that it was always going to have to fight tooth and nail for the Bellevue West receiver. The Huskers know that McMorris isn’t a sure thing for the hometown team.

They also know that they have the inside edge. But in the end, it might be all about who has the better season in 2023.
