Nebraska Football: Georgia Southern fans’ roast doesn’t go as expected
Georgia Southern fans thought they were going to talk a bit of smack but Nebraska football fans probably didn’t respond the way they expected.
What seemed to go wrong the most is that the fan account, Barstool Georgia Southern seemed to believe it was going to provoke Nebraska football fans. Instead, it seems that Golden Eagle fans and Husker fans are on the same page.
So when the Twitter account posted a picture that simply had a picture of an arrow that said “click here,” and then that arrow pointed to an image description that said “Georgia southern beat Nebraska last year,” the account probably thought it would anger Husker fans. That’s why the account wrote the caption alongside the picture, “you won’t do it.”
Nebraska football fans were quick to make it clear that they don’t actually hold any ill will towards Georgia Southern. The Eagles’ win over the Cornhuskers last fall was the last straw for Scott Frost.
Nebraska football fans embrace Georgia Southern
The former Nebraska football head coach was fired the next day. And it’s clear that most Husker fans today feel that the loss to the Sun Belt squad was a blessing.
“We technically won, got rid of Frost,” one Twitter user responded.
“As a Nebraska fan, I’m just gonna say thank you in advance,” another posted. “I think in 4-6 years we’ll all look back and really appreciate what you did for us”
“Thanks for getting Scott Frost fired,” a third wrote. “We truly appreciate it.”
Husker fans learning
Because of their dedication and their sheer numbers, Nebraska football fans tend to make an easy target. There are all kinds of trolls on social media.
However, it appears at least on Wednesday, the attempted troll job by the Georgia Southern Barstool account was met with patience. That was likely not the response they were expecting from Nebraska football fans.
