Nebraska football coaches have turned their attention to Quebequios prospect Sidney Rouleau, who won’t be in college until 2027.

Since Matt Rhule arrived in Lincoln, it’s been clear that he will search far and wide for the right fit in recruiting. More often than not his efforts have centered on Texas and Philadelphia but an offer to 14-year-old Sidney Rouleau shows that the Nebraska football coach is leaving no stone unturned.

The young but already massive 2027 prospect announced he’d officially received an offer from the Huskers on Thursday. While the 6-foot-6, 300 pound prospect has taken some unofficial visits to other schools in the last few weeks, it appears that Nebraska football is the first to offer a scholarship.

That the Cornhuskers are the first to get their foot in the door could be very good for them as they pursue a young man who is going to be playing football for The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, over the next few years.

Nebraska football’s latest offer intrigues

Not much is known by recruiting services about Sidney Rouleau and the fact that he hails from Gatineau, Québec likely plays a bit part in that. That he’s a member of a recruiting class that won’t be signing on the dotted line for anyone for another four years is also a factor there.

What is known is that he’s already got a monster frame and will be playing on both the offensive and defensive line at Pennington. Oh, he’s also quite strong already.

It appears that his recruiting has really just started. Rouleau recently took a trip to Syracuse and the Orange will almost certainly be making sure they’re staying at the front of the prospect’s mind while he goes to school just down the road.

However, Rhule has made it clear that the Northeast portion of the country is an area he’d like to make a pipeline for Nebraska football. He recently hosted a couple of prospects out of New York state this spring and is high on the list of schools for Pennsylvania quarterback Stone Saunders.

Obviously, when it comes to Sidney Rouleau, Nebraska football fans are going to have to wait to see what comes. But the school has its foot in the door for a prospect that looks like he could be near the top of recruiting lists in his class.
