Nebraska football recruiting is officially going after another Texas high school in 4-star prospect Ashton Bethel-Roman, who seems gettable.

That isn’t to say that the receiver out of Missouri City, Texas, is going to be easy to land. He’s among the top 30 best receivers in the entire 2024 class. He’s about the same ranking when it comes to the best players in the talent-rich Lone Star State. However, when looking at the schools that in hot pursuit of Bethel-Roman, there isn’t a team that appears to be insurmountable.

Ashton Bethel-Roman announced he’d received a Nebraska football offer on Twitter about three hours before he announced the same for TCU. That could be a sign that more teams are going to be calling in the very near future. It’s a bit of a surprise there aren’t more teams on the hunt for the star receiver in the first place.

At the moment, the prospect is boasting about 17 total offers. That number also seems small when talking about a 4-star recruit this late in the recruiting cycle for the 2024 class. Though the fact that two Power 5 programs came calling on the same day hints that things could heat up quickly.

On3 currently has the Texas Tech Red Raiders as the team to beat, with Kansas State running a distant second should Bethel-Roman decide on a school today.

Considering that the receiver is the son of former NFL defensive player Mark Roman, it’s possible one of the Huskers’ latest commitments might be able to help in landing the prospect. After all, Willis McGahee IV knows a thing or two about having a dad that played at the next level.

Bethel-Roman also fits the mold of the kind of player that Matt Rhule and company are targeting in their first recruiting classes. The Texas prospect also runs track and has shown the ability to be a blazer. Still, it’s likely his 37 receptions for 892 yards and eight touchdowns last year is what really has Nebraska football intrigued.
