Daylen Russell would be a big boost to Nebraska football recruiting as they continue to try to add to their 2024 class, and he clearly likes the Huskers.

Nebraska football recruiting efforts over the weekend saw some big success with the commitment of Willis McGahee IV and now Matt Rhule and company is looking to make another addition to the class. Daylen Russell looks like he could be another addition sooner, rather than later, considering his recent announcement.

Russell made an announcement on Twitter that he’d cut his final schools down to three. The 3-star defensive lineman out of Miami said that Nebraska football recruiting had made enough of an impact that the Huskers, Miami, and Louisville were the final three schools.

The most interesting part of the recruitment of Daylen Russell seems to be that he’s choosing between a school that has a teammate committed there or staying home in Florida. That fact makes it hard to figure out just where the defensive lineman might go but also means that both Louisville and Nebraska seem to have at least somewhat of an inside line to the prospect.

If one were to hazard a guess, the timing of Russell’s announcement might be good news for Nebraska football recruiting. His final three schools announcement came just one day after McGahee announced he’d joined the 2024 class.

Perhaps the 3-star prospect is moving closer to a decision on where he wants to play because his teammate announced he’s found where he wants to play football in 2024. At the moment, Russell hasn’t said when the next steps in his recruitment might happen.

The bottom line is that it can only be good news for Nebraska football recruiting that the Huskers have made the final cut for Daylen Russell.
