The Nebraska football team finally got its second commitment of the 2024 class as the Huskers’ work in Texas paid off in the form of an offensive lineman.
The Nebraska football team’s 2024 haul hasn’t been as big as some might have hoped after it’s massive Junior Day event last weekend. However, it’s possible the payoff just took a bit longer to make it to the bank. Gibson Pyle is the first visitor from last weekend that has officially committed but it stands to reason there are going to be more in the next few days.
Pyle joins fellow Texas high school standout Roger Gradney in the Nebraska football recruiting class as commits for Matt Rhule and company. The commitment show that making the state of Texas a priority is actually paying off. It’s been a long time since a Lone Star stater was the first commit for a class. It’s been even longer since we could say the same for the first two.
While Pyle might have kept things under his hat publicly, he told On3 that he actually knew he wanted to be a member of the Nebraska football program since his first visit last year. Then, when he came back and visited on Junior Day, things got cemented.
"“I wanted my mom and step-dad to see there as well, so I came back for the big junior day. I had my mind made up, and I told my family the news.”"
Nebraska football lands Gibson Pyle
Pyle had made comments before that he wants to help Nebraska get the “pipeline” back and make the offensive line like it was in the Huskers’ glory days. With the news that the Cornhuskers might be on the outside looking in when it comes to Dylan Raiola, the commitment of a talented offensive lineman from a part of the country the Huskers definitely want to win over has to be welcome news on Saturday.
