In the leadup to the 2023 season, the Nebraska football coaching staff has a number of different jobs they have to do. They need to make the team ready to win more games this fall than its won in any season for the last six years. They also need to win over the fans. And they need to win over former Husker players and show them Matt Rhule, and his assistants have the program going in the right direction. It turns out they are making quite a lot of progress on items number two and three.

There was quite a bit made about this past weekend and what it meant for Nebraska football recruiting. It turns out that the Husker coaches weren’t just recruiting future players this weekend. They were also doing some recruiting of guys like Brandon Reilly.

Reilly got to take in a couple of practices over the weekend and then let Nebraska football fans what he saw and how impressed he was by the presentation.

Reilly took to Twitter on Sunday in order to let eveyone know that he was “all in,” on Matt Rhule’s regime.

It might seem like a foregone conclusion that former Nebraska football players would be supportive of what Rhule was trying to do. However, there’s definitely been some jerking around by former Husker coaches over the last six years. There’s also been plenty of empty promises made.

Brandon Reilly might be uniquely qualified to see what Matt Rhule and his staff are offering and whether or not they’ve found the recipe for success. The former Nebraska football wide receiver happens to have played on the last Husker team that made a bowl game in 2016.

Perhaps that’s why Nebraska football fans should listen to Reilly when he says that he’s “all in” on the new staff. He’s certainly sat back and watched what hasn’t worked but he’s also absolutely seen what does.
