The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is going to have its first massive recruiting weekend of the Matt Rhule era later this month, and the list of prospects who will be in Lincoln just keeps growing.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers added a couple of visits to what it is calling “Junior Day” and they are some of the more sought after prospects in the 2024 class. On Thursday, 4-star tight end Jaden Reddell confirmed he’ll be coming down for the festivities. Just a day earlier Texas offensive lineman Gibson Pyle said he’d be in Lincoln during this massive Nebraska football recruiting weekend as well.

The visit was plenty big before those two recruits announced they were going to be in town. The Nebraska Cornhuskers coaches are obviously hoping some big time peer recruiting goes down on that weekend. After all, the Nebraska football team will also be hosting 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola as well as many others. Several commits coming out of that weekend isn’t out of the realm of possibility if everything goes right.

Other Nebraska Cornhuskers news

  • On Wednesday, the Huskers got some bragging rights when Roni Hietaranta was named the Big Ten Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. It actually means they had more bragging rights since Roni is actually the third straight Nebraska Tennis player to win the honor.
  • Former Nebraska Volleyball player Nicklin Hames has found a way to stick with the sport she loves even now that her college playing days are done. She’ll take over the role of assistant director for Volleyball Club Nebraska and will be working in coaching and administrative duties. As she works in this role, she still hasn’t ruled out a possible return to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a member of John Cook’s staff.

Other Sports News

  • The big news of the day Thursday was the official start of March Madness thanks to 16 games in the NCAA Tournament. True to form, there were two big upsets in the first round as Furman managed to knock off Virginia thanks to a turnover that allowed the Paladins to hit a three-pointer with just seconds to go.
  • If that wasn’t heart-stopping enough, 15th-seeded Princeton managed to upsend 2nd-seeded Arizona. Interestingly, it’s the third straight year that a 15 has knocked off a 2. That’s the longest streak in NCAA Tournament history.
