Nebraska football recruiting is going to get really interesting on Monday. Dominos in the quarterback hunt for Matt Rhule and company are about to fall, and it doesn’t feel like these particular dominos will fall in the Huskers’ favor.

The QB position in 2024 is an interesting one for Nebraska football recruiting. The Huskers hope they can pull Dylan Raiola away from some rather big competitors. In the meantime, they may lose out on another of the best signal callers in the class that just happens to live in Rhule’s back yard.

Daniel Kaelin announced this weekend that he’ll be announcing his commitment on Monday at noon. It doesn’t feel like he’d be committing that early if Nebraska football recruiting was the front-runner here. In fact, it feels like there’s a very good chance that he, like most other people in his home state, is growing tired of waiting to see where Dylan Raiola will go.

Adding insult to injury, recruiting experts are pretty sure that Kaelin will pull the trigger for an old Cornhuskers rival. On3 is among those who believe the Bellevue West prospect is heading to Missouri to play his college ball.

If Kaelin does decide to become a Missouri Tiger, Nebraska football recruiting is going to be hemmed in and will need a big win from their top target. The Huskers will officially find themselves in the “all eggs in one basket” situation with Raiola.

It’s also likely that things are going to be a bit tense around Lincoln and among the fans of the program for the next few days or weeks. While things were looking good for NU in the Raiola sweepstakes just a little while ago, doubt has crept in. Especially with USC now considered to be the top pick to land the 5-star quarterback.

It’s a safe bet that if Daniel Kaelin decides to go to MIssouri and Raiola goes to the Trojans, it will be back to the drawing board for Rhule and his staff. There’s also going to be renewed annoyance at keeping Donovan Raiola on the staff, if he can’t even get his nephew to come to Lincoln.

It’s also worth pointing out that so far, Nebraska football recruiting has more losses in the 2024 class than wins so far. So dominos will indeed start falling on Monday but for now we don’t know exactly which direction.
