Nebraska football fans might remember this past weekend as a big turning point in the Rhulebuild. It all started Friday night when news slipped out that Dylan Raiola was going to take a trip down to Lincoln. It was a trip that most other recruits wouldn’t be able to take, but Raiola managed to take advantage of a loophole since his uncle is on the Huskers staff.

Raiola then took a trip to the Nebraska basketball game against Minnesota, and by all accounts, he loved what he saw when he made the trip. After comments that he’d seen something he hadn’t gotten anywhere else, Nebraska football fans wondered if that might translate into a big move before the weekend was out.

That was when On3 recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett apparently had a brilliant idea. What if he trolled the entirety of Husker Nation?

Having apparently decided to never be taken seriously by anyone in Nebraska again, Fawcett teased a major social media announcement. He even teased it in a way that made it look as though Dylan Raiola was going to be making an announcement. And then…

Fawcett did indeed end up just making a post that showed the number of offers Dylan Raiola had. And Nebraska football nation was not pleased.

It’s been a bit of a drought weekend for Husker fans. Lots of good things have happened. The baseball team swept South Alabama. The basketball won its fourth straight and improved to 15-14 on the season. The softball team also swept the weekend. And the women’s basketball team finished its regular season with a victory.

All of that was top-notch good news. Why Hayes Fawcett thought Sunday night was the best time to troll Nebraska football fans is honestly a question he should probably answer. Someone who bills himself as a social media expert is hopefully going to learn a lesson in how not to use your clout.
