Another day, another offer for Nebraska football recruiting target Carter Nelson. To be more accurate, another day, another handful of offers from some of the biggest schools in the country for the Ainsworth prospect.

At this point, the story behind Carter Nelson’s Nebraska football recruiting path would make a very good ESPN 30 for 30.

It feels like there have been few Nebraska targets that have gotten more attention than Nelson. It certainly feels like there have been few targets in the state that have seen their stock rise at the pace that the tight end has in the last few months.

There was a time when Nelson getting a couple of Power 5 offers was a feel good story, considering that there simply isn’t usually that much attention for a player that takes part in 8-man football.

It’s become quite clear that the top, top, top of the college football world is convinced that while the Nebraska football target has mostly been playing on a relatively small stage in high school, he’ll be able to shine on the biggest stages in the country.

The tight end was already getting a ton of P5 attention. But when an offer from Alabama was issued, it appears that a tidal wave was kicked off. Now things are really moving. And it has to have Nelson’s head spinning. Luckily, by all accounts, he’s got that head screwed on straight and will be able to handle the pressure that’s reaching a boiling point.

On February 16, the Crimson Tide came calling. After a few days of perceived quiet, the Power 5 schools have been coming calling in bunches. Since February 20, Ole Miss, Texas, Illinois, Texas A&M, Purdue, Miami and Georgia have all made it clear they want Nelson to play for them.

Yes, the Georgia that has won back-to-back National Titles is one of the latest offers for the Ainsworth prospect. To say that Nebraska football recruiting has its work cut out for it might not be dramatic enough.

Carter Nelson now has 25 total offers, and the 10th-ranked tight end in the 2024 class has some things to think through. Should the Nebraska football recruiting target decide he wants to stay home, it will be quite a coup for Matt Rhule and company.
