As the 2023 recruiting class winds down, the Nebraska football team is starting to point its full attention to the 2024 class. In particular, Matt Rhule and company is turning their full attention to the jewel of the class, Chandler quarterback Dylan Raiola. But is the 5-star quarterback turning his attention to the Cornhuskers?

Since Raiola announced that he was no longer a commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes, there have been a couple of different schools, including the Georgia Bulldogs that have been going hard after the signal caller. There have been few that have gone as hard as the Nebraska football team. And those efforts might be paying dividends.

In talking to Rivals’ recruiting expert Adam Gorney this week, Raiola made it clear that he knows what the mission statement for the Nebraska football team is. More importantly, he thinks they can follow through with it. According to Cornhuskerswire.

"“Nebraska wants to win right now, and they have the right pieces to do that.”"

It’s worth pointing out this isn’t the first time the quarterback has made some nice comments about the Nebraska football program. However, it’s the first time he’s addressed the program in a way that doesn’t feel like just lip service or being nice because of his family’s ties to the Cornhuskers.

Earlier this month, he talked about how important Nebraska football is to his family. The problem was that it felt like he was saying the Cornhuskers were more critical to the Raiola family than they really were to the star high-school quarterback.

Nebraska Football Making A Dent For Dylan Raiola

It is of course possible that the Huskers are still just getting lip service. With the Georgia Bulldogs and USC Trojans hot on his trail, Rhule and his staff have some real work to do.

Their visit to the quarterback shows that they are at least willing to do the work. They also know they have to pull out stops the other candidates for Raiola don’t have to do in order to win him over.

Next up for the 5-star prospect is a visit to USC. What comes out of that weekend could be a big sign where he’s leaning. After Wednesday’s National Signing Day, he’ll officially be on the clock.
