The Nebraska football team has been on quite a roll when it comes to recruiting over the last few weeks. The Huskers’ coaching staff has been working overtime, but they can’t do it all.

Peer recruiting is something that has definitely taken off in the era of social media. It used to be a thing that players had to exchange phone numbers and call each other in order to peer recruit.

However, because that was relatively private, there wasn’t a way to “peer pressure” someone who was thinking about one school, despite his friends and fellow recruits wanting him to go somewhere else. Now that social media is around, players can enlist the help of everyone on Twitter or TikTok or Instagram or wherever to pressure someone.

That comes in handy, even when talking about a pair of brothers. Mario Buford is finding that out this week, since his literal Nebraska football playing brother wants to see his peer come to Lincoln as well.

Marques Buford is going to be entering his junior season with Nebraska football in 2023 and he wants to finish the calendar year with the commitment of his brother. The Husker player made that clear on Thursday when he posted a video of his highlights as a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers intermixed with highlights from DeSoto, Texas high school and his brother Mario.

It wasn’t long before the younger Buford retweeted the video and included a couple of eye emojis. In other words, the video might have done the trick.

Of course, Mario Buford was already plenty high on the Nebraska football team as his next destination. While most recruiting services have other schools on his list, the Huskers are the odds-on favorite to land the 4-star defensive back.

Oregon and Arkansas are still in the running for the Texas, prospect but it looks as though Matt Rhule, his staff and Marques Buford are on the case and could reel Mario in before too long.
