The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team had a heck of a day on Monday. Not only did they reel in a transfer from national champion Georgia but they also hauled in two other high school recruits.

Interestingly enough, both of those commits just happen to hail from the same high school that tight ends coach Bob Wager coached at right up until this winter. Both Ismael Smith Flores and Jeremiah Charles pulled the trigger on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Both players played for Wager when he was their high school coach. Both players have also helped open up what could be a very valuable pipeline into Texas. Considering the Huskers have also seemingly opened a pipeline to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Nebraska football team is having a very interesting winter, recruiting-wise.

Other Nebraska Cornhuskers News

While the Nebraska football team was having a great day overall, head coach Matt Rhule wasn’t spending much time in his office. Instead, he was out in Omaha checking out Baxter Arena and the Omaha Mavericks’ home ice. Just why he was there is still an unknown, but more than a few people got excited that it might have been a hint about what AD Trev Alberts – who was also there – is thinking about UNL and hockey.

The Nebraska football team also made some moves when it came to NIL on Monday. Wid receiver Billy Kemp signed a deal with the 1890 Initiative. That’s the NIL collective that is tied to Nebraska and means that Kemp is officially a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Speaking of money, the Omaha World-Herald reported on Monday that the financials are in for the last year, and it turns out the school made a butt-ton of money.

While Monday was full of good news for the football team, the Nebraska basketball team got another piece of bad news. It turns out that Emmanuel Bandoumel, who left Saturday’s game against Penn State with an injury, will be out for the rest of the season. He joins teammate Juwan Gary as the second Husker officially done for the year. Weirdly enough, they were the two players who got blackshirts earlier this year after the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ big win over Creighton.
