Nebraska football is having a very good Monday. Just hours after Texas tight end Ismael Smith Flores announced that he’d committed to the Huskers, Georgia transfer offensive tackle Jacob Hood did the same thing. Hood pulled the trigger via his Instagram story first.

Like the younger player before him, Hood took to social media to announce he was committing to Nebraska football after visiting the school over the weekend. When he first came to town there were some whisperings that it might take a little while to pull the trigger but it turns that it took no time at all.

Hood becomes the latest get for the Nebraska football team that has been working hard to shake things up recruiting wise since Matt Rhule arrived in town. It also happens to be the third former Georgia Bulldog. Hoob joins MJ Sherman and Arik Gilbert in Lincoln after all three of them decided not to play between the hedges anymore.

The third commitment from the two-time national champion continues to be an interesting story about just how Matt Rhule is putting things together since he took over in Lincoln. Interestingly enough, Hood is also the second commit of the day that has given his pledge, at least in part because of connections Rhule has made over his career.

Smith Flores had been an Iowa lean for quite a while to the point where recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong was convinced he would commit to the Hawkeyes. When Bob Wager ended up landing on the staff of the Nebraska football team, it changed things in the Huskers’ favor.

Hood looks like he’s the product of a relationship Rhule struck long ago with Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown.

By nabbing Hood, Rhule has continued to reshape his roster in a way that could mean the Nebraska football team will be better in 2023 than people might have expected back in November.
