Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Another Georgia visitor, Billy Kemp’s journey, more
The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is hosting yet another Georgia Bulldog transfer. After landing tight end Arik Gilbert and linebacker MJ Sherman, the Huskers are now trying to reel in offensive lineman Jacob Hood.
Hood’s visit to Lincoln seems to have come out of nowhere. He entered the transfer portal on January 13, and it took just a little over a week for the Nebraska Cornhuskers to get him into town. And if Omar Hales and his request for fireworks is any indication, it appears the Nebraska football team might have landed another commit.
One of the big reasons why the Huskers landing Hood would be huge is that he’s still relatively young and untested. Hood was a 4-star prospect in the 2022 class but sat out all of this season due to injury. In other words, he would have four more years of eligibility.

Billy Kemp was a massive get for the Nebraska football team when he transferred over from Virginia, but he’s sort of faded into the background as the transfer portal window has been all Georgia, all the time. He recently talked to the Omaha World-Herald about how important the 2023 season is for him as he feels as though he’s playing for more than himself.
Turning attention to former Nebraska Cornhuskers, tight end Jack Stoll has made quite a name for himself with Philadelphia Eagles fans in 2022. While he’s still primarily used as the blocking tight end, the second-year pro did have 11 catches for 123 yards in 2022 and this weekend will lace them up in a playoff game for the NFC’s top seed against the conference rival New York Giants.
And finally, when focusing on the children of Husker greats that never really ended up coming to Lincoln, Jake Garcia, who was one of the top quarterbacks in his recruiting class is moving on in the transfer portal. He was never really pursued by the Nebraska Cornhuskers despite his father playing QB for the program. He signed with Miami out of high school, but is now a member of the Missouri Tigers.
Other Sports News
Former Nebraska football head coach Bill Callahan has built himself quite a career as one of the most respected offensive line coaches in the game since heading back to the NFL. It turns out he’s so respected that the New York Jets wanted to hire him away from Cleveland. However, the Browns signed him to an extension instead.
While the Nebraska Cornhuskers have had a pretty good winter, it’s been an odd one for Michigan. The Wolverines are under investigation by the NCAA and its co-offensive coordinator was just fired after police arrested him for “a report of computer access crimes” at the school’s football facility.” Yiiiikes.
The Nebraska football team might be set at quarterback with Jeff Sims and Casey Thompson but there is another QB on the open market. Jaden Rashada was released from his NLI by Florida and is now the top unsigned prospect of the 2023 class.
