The Nebraska football team continues to shift just what it means to be a member of Matt Rhule’s staff. This weekend, another Huskers staff member officially joined the fold, though he won’t be a member of the on-field coaching staff.

Josh Bringuel introduced himself to Nebraska football faithful by announcing he had a new profile pic. Like the other members of the new Cornhuskers staff, it was a picture of Bringuel photoshopped so it looked like he was wearing the Crimson and Cream.

While there wasn’t an official announcement from the Nebraska football program, clicking into Bringuel’s profile shows that while he’s a new addition he won’t be coaching. His title is technically Defensive Quality Control Coach though it stands to reason it’s more of an analyst position.

Before joining the Huskers, Bringuel last worked as a defensive graduate assistant at Syracuse under new Nebraska football defensive coordinator Tony White. Before that he was a player for San Diego State.

The addition of the new Defensive Quality Control Coach continues what has become a definite pattern under Matt Rhule. Bringuel is young and doesn’t have a ton of experience. However he’s someone that has ties to the current staff and he’s considered quite good at his job, even if he hasn’t been doing it for very long.

It also appears that this is another sign that Rhule isn’t going to be putting together his staff the way Nebraska football fans originally thought. When it was reported that the new Huskers head coach would have all kinds of money to spend on assistants, people thought he’d be putting together an allstar staff.

Instead, he’s likely saved some big time money on the individual assistants but decided to spread the money around more and put together a support staff that’s going to look different than what any other Nebraska football coach has done. It will certainly be interesting to watch and see if this approach is successful.
