A former Nebraska Cornhuskers star is going to be playing professional football. However, Deontai Williams won’t be plying his trade in the NFL. Instead, he’s going to be joining the Canadian Football League as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Williams will attempt to show the NFL that he deserves another shot after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks last spring. He even showed enough in preseason camps that he got several snaps in the preseason.

However, it turns out that the Seahawks didn’t have room on their roster. Now he’ll get a chance to get paid to play football for the first time since he was a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Williams recorded 122 tackles, six-and-a-half tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions, 15 pass knockdowns, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown while in Lincoln from 2018 to 2021.
