Before Malachi Coleman was a member of the Nebraska football team, Huskers fans were desperate to bring him into the fold. That desire was about the fact that the Lincoln East product is a heck of a football player, but also because he’s someone who is a high-character person.
Since joining the Huskers, he’s continued to show off that character. And he underlined the kind of person he is on Saturday, even when he absolutely didn’t need to demonstrate it to anyone. Of course, someone who is a truly high-character person will show that even when the situation doesn’t require it.
Nebraska football fans were excited to see Malachi Coleman show off what he could do at the Under Armour All-American Game. After all, there were plenty of reports all week that he was putting on a show for the other attendees.
Then the actual game took place. It’s safe to say that the top player in the state’s disappearance was a surprising one. Of course, the size of the blowout in that game was also probably a bit of a surprise. But the biggest surprise of Saturday’s fallout was when Coleman took to social media and felt the need to apologize to Nebraska football fans.
Nebraska football player’s unnecessary apology
It’s not going out on a limb to say that any expectation that Coleman should apologize to the Husker faithful for his lack of a massive game is nonsense. He’s a player that has shown his ability to do anything he wants on the football field.
He also doesn’t owe Husker faithful any apology or explanation. But the fact that he thinks he does is why he’s the high-character man he is. And why will he be something special to watch once he gets his feet under him at Nebraska football and starts playing games that matter.
