For Nebraska football recruiting efforts of late, it’s another day and another commit from Omaha Westside. On Friday, kicker Tristan Alvano pulled the trigger for the Huskers. On Saturday, Matt Rhule and company added one of his teammates in speedy wide receiver Jaylen Lloyd.

Lloyd is an interesting get because he becomes the second player in the last month that Nebraska football recruiting has zeroed in on that is going to be playing two sports in Lincoln. The 3-star receiver is also going to be running track for the Huskers.

Lloyd officially pulled the trigger for Nebraska football on Saturday afternoon, hosting an announcement party in his North Omaha community. While it’s been thought for some time that he was likely a Cornhusker lean, he confirmed that his lean was a relatively new thing.

In fact, it turns out the speedy receiver was planning on just doing track for the Florida Gators until Matt Rhule came calling, according to The Athletic’s Mitch Sherman. Rhule apparently wasted no time once he was hired on, offering Lloyd a chance to play football for his home-state school almost immediately. The amount of love he got from Rhule and the staff won him over.

While there weren’t a ton of schools that came calling on the football side, the Westside product did have some attention from Power 5 schools. In choosing the Huskers, he did eschew Illinois and Texas Tech and considering how little time Rhule had to reel him in, that’s still quite the accomplishment for the Nebraska football recruiting apparatus.

If there is one big question out there after the Husker staff landed its second wide receiver commit since arriving in Lincoln, it’s just who might be their coach. Do these players have a pretty good idea who is in charge of their position room? Or are they just that happy to be coming to Nebraska that they know who wil be coaching them will work itself out? For now, the Cornhuskers do not have an announced WR coach. That will be an interesting story to watch in the coming days.
