The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is going to have to replace a man who could have been a big pass rusher in 2023. Ochaun Mathis, who transferred to the Huskers from TCU this summer announced he’s headed to the NFL.

The announcement was hardly a big surprise. Mathis hinted not long after Rhule took over that he was considering going pro.

In his message about his deliberations, he mentioned that he was going to talk to Mickey. That was right around the time the former interim head coach was unfortunately arrested.

While it’s certainly possible that Rhule and company could convince him to pull his name out of the draft, that seems unlikely. It sure seems like he’s had plenty of time to think this over and he wants to take the next step in his career.

More Nebraska Cornhuskers News

Now that the Nebraska volleyball team’s season is over, John Cook and company have already started looking forward. It turns out this next team is going to have quite a bit of youth. It’s also going to be quite good, yet again.

The Nebraska football team made two coaching hires official, though neither one were a huge surprise. At least not anymore. Donovan Raiola certainly surprised some when rumors came out he was hired. He’s now official. So is defensive coordinator Tony White.

College Football News

Syracuse fans can’t be real happy today. Not only did they lose Tony White to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, they lost offensive coordinator Robert Anae to North Carolina State. Ironically, the Wolfpack were looking for an OC because former Husker coach Tim Beck left to take the head coaching job at Coastal Carolina.

In other weird offensive coordinator news, it appears that Bobby Petrino is about to be back in the FBS ranks. He’s in line to take on the OC job at Texas A&M. This past season, Petrino was the head coach for Missouri State and pulled off an upset of Arkansas.
