Since Matt Rhule took over as the Huskers’ head coach, the Nebraska football recruiting efforts have been a whirlwind and a bit of a roller coaster. There have been quite a few players that have entered the portal. There’s also been some decommits. However, this weekend could prove to provide quite the upswing in momentum.

Rhule and his staff acquired their first commit earlier this week in a speed burner wide receiver. Now Rhule could be on the verge of reeling in a few more. Among those players that could soon be back in the Cornhuskers’ fold is a defensive stud who was also once a Nebraska football recruiting get. Cameron Lenhardt has seemingly always had a soft side for Dear Old NU and he could once again give his pledge to the school.

Lenhardt is one of a bundle of recruits that will be visiting during a massive weekend for Nebraska football recruiting. Managing to get the edge rusher in town has to be considered a win all on its own.

The 4-star prospect might have decommitted from the Huskers when the school was seeing all kinds of turmoil, but it appears that there really hasn’t been another school that has jumped to the front of the list of his favorites.

It appears that Nebraska football recruiting has a bit of an in, now that Matt Rhule is in place. Lenhardt’s position coach appears to be locked in as well. Considering that none of the major recruiting services have a handle on where the defensive stud’s heart lies these days, the new Cornhuskers staff seems to have a real possibility of landing another commit this weekend.

It could, in fact lead to a kind of avalanche of positive news for Nebraska football recruiting if everything goes to plan. Saturday could be enormous for the chances of a quick rebuild for Rhule.
