The Nebraska football team’s 2022 season came to a merciful end with a little bit of hype and hope on the way out. After yet another losing season, there were more than a few Husker fans who were ready to get this thing over with. It wouldn’t have been out of the question if the Cornhuskers players also came into the Black Friday matchup ready to just be done.

Instead, the Huskers came out and played inspired football against a Hawkeyes team that made an uncharacteristic amount of mistakes. The Nebraska football team took a 17-0 and 24-7 lead. And then, rather than fold up as they’re far too well known for doing, they managed to hold on and get the victory.

In the process, Trey Palmer set the Huskers’ single-season record for receiving yards. Mickey Joseph got a win in his final game as the Nebraska football head coach. And as an added bonus, the Huskers managed to keep Iowa out of the Big Ten Title game, barring some craziness taking place on Saturday.

For those wondering how Iowa fan took the loss, let’s just say it wasn’t good. In their defense, it shouldn’t have been good. The Hawkeyes lost to one of the worst Husker football teams in the last six decades.

While they might have been angry about the loss, the reactions to the HUskers win and getting to get the trophy were ridiculous. Right after the game, more than a few people caught their reactions, including trying to take the trophy away from players who went over to gather it.

The question that should be on everyone’s mind is just what the random Iowa fans who were playing tug of war with the Heroes Trophy thought was going to happen. Did they think they were going to be able to keep it?

There was also some serious complaints about Palmer’s record. Suddenly, Iowa’s defense wasn’t one of the best in the country and the Nebraska football wide receiver only had the kind of night he did is because he was going up against backups.

All in all, Friday afternoon and night was the kind of evening that Nebraska football fans wouldn’t like to repeat, because they still finished 4-8, but Iowa fans should be a bit ashamed of themselves for when it’s all said and done.
