Former Nebraska football star Ben Stille is getting a real shot to make the most of his NFL dreams. That’s thanks to the Cleveland Browns signing Stille off the Miami Dolphins practice squad.

The move means that for now at least, the Browns believe that the ex-Husker is someone who can make an impact on its active roster. That’s the only way that a player can be signed off a practice squad right away. There is a chance he might eventually get shelved on Cleveland’s practice squad, but for now? For now he’s going to have a chance to suit up in an NFL game for the second time this season.

Stille has been one of those under-the-radar success stories for Nebraska football. Miami signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent and seemed to have been impressing coaches as the 2022 season wore on.

He played nine snaps for the Dolphins this season, logging two tackles in an October 23 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. There was some indications that the playoff-contending ‘Fins might have been close to activating Stille off their practice squad after some injuries hit the defense, however the Browns acted just a little bit faster.

While Ben Stille is almost certainly quite happy that he’s going to get another chance to prove what he can do in the NFL, he goes from a team that is on the rise, to a team that looks headed towards sitting at home for the playoffs again. The Browns are currently 3-6 and tied for last place in the AFC North.

Ben Stille had a rather impressive career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He could play in five seasons thanks to one of those being the 2020 COVID year. His final year in Lincoln was arguably his best, as he racked up 42 tackles and three passes defended while also notching 1.5 sacks for the Nebraska football team.
