Nebraska football recruiting efforts are starting to focus in on Gretna star Mason Goldman as other teams around the country have noticed him as well. While the Huskers didn’t give him an official offer until earlier this month, it still appears as though they have the inside track for the interior offensive lineman.

The Gretna Dragons prospect is rated as a 3-star recruit by 247Sports and also rated as the 10th best player for the 2023 class. There had been some wondering whether or not the Cornhuskers were going to come calling considering he had seven official offers before Big Red made theirs.

Now that the Huskers have given him an offer, On3 rates them as easily the odds-on favorites to land his services. If he does give his commit and does it soon, he could be the second in-state prospect that Mickey Joseph has managed to rope in while simply being the interim head coach.

Nebraska football recruiting finally zeroing in on Goldman hasn’t stopped other teams from coming calling as well. Just a few days ago, the offensive lineman received an offer from an SEC school with the Vanderbilt Commodores showing interest.

That offer came just a day after he made a visit to Lincoln to see the Huskers in action against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Considering the performance of the offensive line was less than stellar, it’s possible the Gretna product saw the possibility of starting right away.

Just what happens with Goldman is going to be an interesting story to watch. While there’s still several weeks in the season, December signing day is creeping ever closer as the calendar prepares to switch over.

Malachi Coleman made it clear that Mickey Joseph leading the Nebraska football recruiting efforts was a big reason he pulled the trigger. For now, it appears Goldman is waiting to see who gets the permanent job.
