Nebraska Football Recruiting: RB target decommits from Tulane
One of the top running back Nebraska football recruiting targets is now a free agent as a former Tulane commit has opened things up again. 3-star Tulane commit Arnold Barnes announced that he’s opening up his recruiting on Friday morning.
There are a couple of things to take away from this announcement. The first is that Barnes, who hails from New Orleans, has been seeing quite a bit more interest from other schools than at the beginning of the cycle. He just recently decided to take an official visit to Iowa.
The Hawkeyes are just one of two Power 5 schools that have come calling. Nebraska football recruiting focused in on the running back right at the start of this month. He came and checked out Memorial Stadium on October 1.
After that visit he did announce that he was still committed to Tulane, but it’s been clear that Mickey Joseph and company have been paying quite a bit of attention to Barnes this month.

One has to wonder if the timing of his Iowa official visit is the reason that he’s decided to announce he’s a free agent. He’ll be checking out what the Hawkeyes have to offer this weekend. It would seem that it’s possible the 2023 target could have a new future home by Monday.
The Nebraska football recruiting efforts could be paying off in a very big way before Halloween. Joseph and the rest of the coaches already got one big commit last Saturday.
There is also a chance they could be landing a JUCO defensive lineman this weekend. Now it appears that they could be getting a very good running back, all while Joseph continues to be the interim head coach who may not even be here in 2023.
Nebraska football recruiting efforts appear to be paying off, as On3 has Barnes as a very heavy lean to the Huskers.
