Nebraska Football: Former Husker coach calls Tom Allen ‘clown,’ ‘cheerleader’

The game between the Nebraska football team and the Indiana Hoosiers might end up being a bit spicier than people originally thought. There isn’t much of a rivalry between the two teams, mainly because they simply haven’t played each other all that often, even since the Huskers joined the Big Ten. Despite not much history between the programs, one former Nebraska coach appears to have quite the hate on for Hoosiers head coach Tom Allen.

Rick Kaczenski, who was the defensive line coach under former Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini made an appearance on the Hail Varsity radio program earlier this week and talked to Chris Schmidt and Elijah Herbel about his intense dislike for Tom Allen.

While talking about how badly the Huskers needed a win against the Hoosiers this week, Kaczenski got rather personal.

"“Let’s be honest. Tom Allen, is there a bigger clown in college football than that guy? For the love of god, we cannot lose to Indiana. We just can’t.”"

Some Nebraska football fans might wonder why a man who hasn’t been associated with the program for years would have such animosity for Allen. His reason for all the hate? It’s apparently because Allen likes to lead his players onto the field.

"“Here’s what I don’t like about the guy. The guy likes running out of a tunnel. I don’t like coaches that like running out of tunnels. … Nobody’s there to see me run out the tunnel, OK? I don’t know. This guy’s a frickin’ cheerleader. He’s just not my cup of tea. You can’t lose to that clown. You want some motivation? Put a highlight reel together of that guy. You can’t lose to Indiana.”"

At this point, it’s time to mention that the Nebraska football head coach routinely runs onto the field before the game. Even Bo Pelini.

While Allen might be a tad more boisterous than other coaches, it feels like a bit of overkill to call him a cheerleader or a clown.

To be fair, Kaczenski doesn’t just rip on other teams coaches. Last year he made an appearance on another radio show where the former Husker defensive line coach ripped into Scott Frost and company.

Of course, when it comes to calling other people “clowns,” it feels as though Kaczenski might be living in a glass house and throwing stones.

Things are going poorly for the Nebraska football program these days. It doesn’t really need random ex-coaches with shoddy personal histories who have been out of coaching for years pretending as though they speak for the program.
