Most Nebraska football fans that follow recruiting know that Malachi Coleman is one of the Huskers’ top targets in the 2023 class.

The 4-star prospect out of Lincoln East is getting a lot of love from outside Memorial Stadium as well.

The latest proof of this is the placing of Coleman on 247Sports “Freaks List” of the 2023 class.

In fact, it turns out that not only is the two-way star on the list, but he’s number nine out of 50 on that particular list. That could be a sign that not only is he thought of as a talented player, but he’s someone who is still on the rise.

One of the big reasons why the Nebraska football target is looked at as such a big talent is because he’s actually gotten quite a bit bigger in a short period of time. He now stands at 6-foot-5 and has shot up in the last few years.

He’s someone who can do more than just play offense and defense. The Huskers’ prospect can run. He can run far and he can run fast.

Coleman is able to run a 10.46 in the 100-meter dash, 21.31 in the 200-meter dash and 45-6 in the triple jump. And no, he’s not just a two-sport star. He’s also got some basketball skills wrapped in there as well.

As a receiver, he hauled down 10 touchdowns and 561 yards. As a defender, he had 57 tackles and seven sacks in 2021. And by all accounts, he’s primed to improve on both of those numbers for Lincoln East this fall.

That’s why Coleman has made the 247Sports Freaks List, and it’s why he’s one of those players that Huskers badly want to see commit to playing in Lincoln for four more years.

The big question now is that while he continues getting accolades, will the Nebraska football team be able to close the deal and keep him close to home once he enters the college ranks?
