It should come as no surprise at all that Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David is the top dog when it comes to former Nebraska football stars being in Madden NFL 23.

After all, David missed five games for the Bucs and still managed to total 97 tackles, two sacks, three passes defended, and two forced fumbles. Quite simply, the former Husker was still a monster on the football field despite the fact that he basically missed more than a quarter of the season.

Of course, David’s 92 rating isn’t just based on what he did in 2021 for the Bucs. He’s also someone who gets that rating because he’s had one rather impressive career since joining the NFL. It’s pretty clear that the Madden NFL 23 devs understand that he’s one of the best players in the league, even when he’s hampered by injury.

In 10 seasons (all with Tampa) David has amassed less than 100 tackles in just two seasons. Even in today’s game. Even with 17 games now on the schedule, it’s pretty amazing that 97 wins is considered a down year.

That reputation comes from the fact that he had a string of three straight seasons before 2021 where he had at least 115 tackles per year.

The big question now is whether or not David can keep it up and continue to be a player that is consistently rated over 90 on Madden NFL 23.

That’s for another day, though. For now, the former Nebraska football legend is just one of the best players in the game.
