Nebraska football is after the top prospect in North Dakota.

With the 2021 class settled in, Nebraska football is now focused on recruiting for 2022. It’s hard to believe that we are at that point already, but recruiting moves fast. With that in mind, Nebraska already has a top 2022 prospect in their sights.

Carson Hegerle out of North Dakota is just beginning his recruitment. Nevertheless, he is already getting a ton of offers, including talking to Nebraska on Saturday. He is listed as an athlete, and it does not have any ranking in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Nevertheless, he has the Midwest locked down.

North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota,  and South Dakota State have all extended offers his way. Prior to his Nebraska offer, he received an offer from North Dakota State on January 31.

He is certainly a guy to keep an eye on. I’ve been watching a couple of his highlights, and they are certainly impressive. Measuring in at six-foot-three, 180 pounds, he played the wide receiver position for West Fargo High School. According to his Hudl highlights, he recorded 33 receptions for 425 yards and four touchdowns.

He also proved very apt at returning kicks. He returned a kicks for 241 yards and a touchdown, averaging 30.1 yards per kick return. In terms of punt returns, he totaled 11 for 170 yards and a touchdown, averaging 15.5 yards per return. Those numbers are certainly impressive to say the least.

He also managed to play defense last season, and his awareness on that side of all was very good. He was able to track where the ball was thrown, and come down to make a play. He is just one of those kids that is an overall very good athlete. He would be a great addition to the 2022 class.

Currently, the Nebraska football 2022 class does not have any commitments in it. Nevertheless, they have been slowly working on the 2022 class ever since the end of 2020. It seems to me like they are going after some good athletes in this class, and Hegerle really would certainly be no exception. Especially given that he is the top prospect in North Dakota, that certainly adds credence to his skills. I guarantee that he will have many more offers coming his way.

Nevertheless, shoutout to Nebraska for getting out ahead of his recruitment, and recognizing that he is picking up steam. He would be a good addition to the Nebraska football program.
