Nebraska football has made the top group for a running back.

It’s time to start thinking about recruiting once again, and Nebraska football made the top group for 2022 running back Samuel Brown.

Brown is a four-star running back. He is the 29th overall running back in his class, and the tenth overall player in his class from the state of Pennsylvania per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has an impressive offer sheet that includes the likes of Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Nebraska made his list of his top 11 schools. With teams such as the Aggies, Michigan State, and Pittsburgh also a part of that list, Nebraska will undoubtedly have their work out for them.

What could Brown bring to Nebraska? When I look at his highlights, he is a running back that is very shifty, and can work the outside sideline with ease. In addition, he also has the ability to find a hole quickly and then use his speed to burst through it. It would definitely fit the Nebraska football running style, and his ability to run straight down the field at a high level versus going side-to-side will definitely help whichever team lands him.

As far as the 2022 class is concerned for Nebraska, the program has zero commitments so far in the class. It is still of course very early in the recruiting process. It is also worth noting that Nebraska traditionally does not land a lot of recruits until later in the process. Whether this is something to do with their evaluation process, or that’s just how things have worked out for Scott Frost and his coaching staff, Nebraska always seems to land players late.

Nebraska football has been very sound in recruiting the running back position. You have seen me talk about the 2020 class, and the potential that they have. Although we did not see it too much this year, I chalk that up more to the offensive scheme than their actual talent. I’ll be interested to see if Nebraska football uses their running backs more from here on out.

In any event, Brown is certainly a name to keep an eye on for the 2022 class. I’ll be interested to see what Nebraska football’s main focus is for the class. We have seen them really focus on depth in the past couple classes, and I think that’s a smart move. One has to wonder if they will continue that strategy from here on out.
