Nebraska football is checking in on a receiver from Florida.

As we take a look at 2022  recruiting, Nebraska seems to be trying to cover all the bases offensively. According to a report from Rivals.com ($), Nebraska football is checking in on 2022 wide receiver Victor Jones.

Jones is a three-star receiver, and is the 87th overall player in the 2022 class from the state of Florida per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Jones holds offers from schools like Arkansas, Buffalo, Cincinnati, and FIU. Most recently, he was offered by South Dakota. One intriguing offer he has is Kentucky. They have certainly been a rising program over the past couple of seasons.

When I look at some of his highlights, I like what I see. He is a very shifty wide receiver who is able to catch the ball and turn upfield immediately. He is a great yards-after-the-catch receiver. On kick returns, he also can demonstrate his vision. He is able to get upfield immediately much like as a receiver, and make quick decisions.

In terms of overall measurements, he is a good size for a receiver. Measuring in at six-foot-two, 184 pounds, Jones has the versatility to play as either inside or outside wide receiver.

Currently, Nebraska does not have much going in the 2022 recruiting class. There are a couple of prospects who have the Nebraska football program in their top lists. I expect to see a push to sign recruits with this class later in the year. It’s good that Nebraska is evaluating talent, especially offensively.

Don’t get me wrong, defense is also important. However, it’s becoming more about offense. Especially in a conference like the Big Ten, where Ohio State seems to dominate, Nebraska and the rest of the conference needs to load up on weapons. Jones is by no means a top-tier receiver, but he is someone that could fit in Nebraska’s offense right away.

Jones has the tools and intangibles to really be an asset for whoever lands him. He still has some room to improve his skills, but he definitely has many things working for him right now. I’ll be interested to see where his recruitment takes, and if Nebraska football will remain involved until the end.
