What’s the next move for Nebraska football?

It was only a matter of time. Nebraska football extended an offer to 2021 tight end James Carnie on Monday, setting the stage for the tight end to come to Lincoln.

Carnie is the 57th overall tight end in the 2021 class, and the seventh overall player in his class from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Currently, six crystal ball predictions have Carnie headed to Nebraska.

It was only a matter of time before Nebraska offered him, and now the question is, will they be able to land him? From everything I have heard, Nebraska is in a good spot to land him. The Huskers certainly have focused on upgrading the tight end position, and Carnie would definitely be able to help.

When you look at what he brings to the table, he is both a good pass-catcher and blocker. He would be able to fit Nebraska well in that regard. He is able to get downfield quickly and has the hands to make difficult catches.

He doesn’t have a ton of speed but he can reel in big catches. When you consider how wide-open the Nebraska football offense is, he could be a great addition to the program. I could see him thriving within the Nebraska football offense.

Now, the waiting game begins. I would feel very comfortable saying that he will come to Nebraska. They have been stacking up on tight ends over the past couple of months, and Carnie would be a good addition. He definitely brings a physical play style. On top of that, he also has the ability to spread the field. With the type of offense that Scott Frost and Matt Lubick want to bring to the table, those are two very important qualities for the tight end to have.

Furthermore, Nebraska would reel in another in-state player. This would be a huge get in that regard. It seems like over the past couple of months, Scott Frost has done a nice job of trying to keep in-state talent home. Now, we wait to see what’s next?

Will Nebraska be able to land another talented tight end? We can only hope. With how Nebraska has recruited over the past couple of months, I would say anything is possible. They have managed to  recruit strong players and give their future quarterbacks a lot of weapons to work with. Now, it’s all about making sure the puzzle pieces fit.
