The newest Nebraska football tight end wants to continue to get better.

There’s little denying that the commitment of tight end AJ Rollins to Nebraska football on Friday was a big one. Now, Nebraska has a two-headed monster at the position for 2021.

On Friday, we were able to find out a little bit more of what Rollins could bring to the table. In a report from Parker Gabriel of the Lincoln Journal Star, Rollins indicated that he was working on some specific aspects of his game.

It’s really intriguing to see what he can bring to the offense. He brings a little bit of everything. His size, and his ability to come back to the ball and improvise on routes were two things that I noticed immediately. This is exactly the type of weapon that Nebraska football has needed at tight end for the past couple of seasons.

Only a three-star recruit so far, Rollins is definitely going to be a playmaker in the passing game for the program. However, he has been working on a couple of specific things that should endear him to Nebraska fans. In particular, his willingness to get stronger and improve his route-running should definitely stand out.

As a Nebraska football fan, that is certainly music to my ears. He is already pretty strong in several areas. The fact that he wants to continue to improve and work on his skills is certainly bad news for opposing defenses. Of course, every athlete is going to say that they want to improve and continue to get better. However, with the potential that Rollins brings, an even better Rollins is going to be a scary sight.

"“I’d say I want to get stronger and improve my route-running,” Rollins said. “I’ve improved my blocking over the years like crazy, but overall, I just want to get ready for college and be ready to do the things that Nebraska needs me to do.“My blocking has gotten so much better and I’m just focused on improving the stuff I can control. I can’t control how many receptions I get. But my blocking, I thought my blocking was really good last night and I’m just trying to keep getting better.”"

I’m certainly going to be excited to see him in Lincoln. Much like Thomas Fidone, he could make an instant impact. Nebraska has gone from bleak outlooks at the tight end position to having two game changers in the span of a week.

I’ll be interested to see how Nebraska football fills the rest of this class. The class itself is already pretty strong, and I really don’t have too many complaints. I had complaints in May when Nebraska football appeared to be lagging behind in recruiting. That isn’t the case anymore. They have a ton of talented playmakers, and they managed to get them in only span of a few months.

A tip of the cap certainly goes to Scott Frost and the coaching staff.
