Nebraska Baseball: Local Lincoln prospect commits to Huskers
Nebraska baseball was able to land a commitment over the weekend.
The commitments keep rolling in for Nebraska baseball, and Saturday they landed a commitment from 2023 hitter Max Buettenback.
Buettenback’s story is actually pretty interesting. He played football, and was a stellar athlete on the gridiron. He attended the Warren Academy Top Prospects Showcase that James Carnie and Thomas Fidone also went to.

In addition to being a good football player, he is pretty stellar on the diamond. He hit .500 with a .741 slugging percentage this summer for the Nebraska 2023 Prospects.
The 2023 class is loaded for Nebraska baseball. They have a bunch of talented pitchers who will definitely make their mark in Lincoln. Tucker Timmerman and Travis Sykora also make up the 2023 class. Although there are only three members in the class right now, I would expect that to grow and add additional talented names.
Again, Nebraska baseball head coach Will Bolt and his coaching staff are finding some of the best prospects in the state of Nebraska. This Nebraska baseball team is going to have a very local feel to it. That is a great thing.
Bolt is making this class have a Nebraska flavor to it and that is awesome. There are a ton of talented prospects in the state, and there are a ton of talented prospects in future classes that would be able to make an impact for this program right away.
I think part of the reason why we are seeing so many talented Nebraska baseball prospects commit to the program is Bolt himself. He understands what baseball means to the state of Nebraska, and he knows that blue-collar kids are the bedrock of the program.
Buettenback should be able to provide Nebraska with another strong bat to on the roster. So far, it seems like the Nebraska baseball program has landed tremendous amounts of pitching. That is certainly awesome, as good pitching in the collegiate baseball ranks is hard to come by.
With that being said, hitting is undoubtedly important as well. Nebraska certainly got their fair share of runs in each game before the stoppage last season. Offense has not seemed to have been the problem in the past two years I have covered the baseball team.
Buettenback’s talents should be well utilized at Nebraska, as they continue to build for the future with some of the biggest high school prospects in the state. It’s only gonna be a matter of time before this team plays at a high level once again.
