The new Nebraska football coach was a driving force for Latrell Neville.

With several fireworks celebrations going on around the country last night, Nebraska football managed to have some fireworks of their own. As you all know, 2021 wide receiver Latrell Neville committed to the program. Neville adds another playmaker to a class that has a ton of them to begin with.

With Neville in the fold, it certainly time to give credit to his primary recruiter. Matt Lubick has been making an impact since he got to Lincoln. Apparently, both Neville and his coach go back further than just the recent recruiting process. In fact, you can take the two’s ties all the way back to Washington.

More from Husker Corner

As noted in a report from Parker Gabriel, Lubick recruited Neville in 2018. To me, this makes a ton of sense. Washington has been known to have some fast receivers over the years. John Ross would be an example of that. I remember watching Ross in Washington and he absolutely tore up the football field. Although recent success has not always been there for the Huskies, there is no doubt that they can send fast and talented players to the National Football League.

It makes sense then with Neville’s skill set and playmaking ability that he was recruited by Lubick. He knew Neville and what he brought to the table. it’s really cool to see that he was able to keep up with Neville’s recruitment even as he changed schools. To me that speaks to his value as a recruiter. Players want to play for him.

In the process, he is building a very talented wide receiver room. Neville is just the latest example of that.

"“As a coach, he’s an outstanding guy, no question about it. As a guy, he’s really a father figure-type guy. He really got to know me, we bonded real well. We talk literally every day and he really built a relationship with my uncle, too. He’s a family-type guy and I feel really comfortable with him talking about whatever.”"

Now, it’s time to see what the wideout can do in Lincoln. To me, this was a huge victory for Nebraska in recruiting. They have been getting more and more of those lately. The more I look at it, it seems like the slow start Nebraska had in recruiting was a little bit by design. It’s very clear that they want to form a blueprint in regards to the type of players they want.

Hopefully, they keep going after big-time recruits. There could be more fireworks later this week. You never know, especially with this program. It always seems like they have something up their sleeve.

Next. Three takeaways from Neville commitment. dark

Lately, it seems like there has been no rest for the weary when it comes to recruiting. That is exactly how it should be.
