A Nebraska Football assistant coach was given praise by a national media outlet.

When Nebraska football hired Matt Lubick to be the next wide receivers coach, I had great feelings about the hire. Given his success with his wideouts at Oregon, I figured he could have some amount of success in Lincoln.

When you look at all the wide receivers that he has to work with, Lubick is falling into a wide receiver coach’s dream scenario. Sure, they may all be  young and need experience. However, their potential is there.

Omar Manning, Alante Brown, Zavier Betts, Will Nixon, and Marcus Fleming. These are all names that he has to work with. When you think about how he elevated the Oregon and Washington wide receivers, it makes me excited to think about what he could do with this group.

The national media thinks he can do big things as well. 247Sports.com put out a list of the top 20 assistant coach hires for 2020. Lubbock came at the 15th spot on the list.

Citing h the fact that he will be reunited with Scott Frost, while noting that he has taken a year off from football, 247Sports has high praise for Lubick. Admittedly, they are unsure how he will do, as he has never been a part of a Frost-driven offense.

I know the article may seem more like a fluff piece, but the fact that Lubick is even on it is encouraging. He can definitely help out the Nebraska wide receivers, there is no doubt about that. Like 247Sports notes, we are not sure how much of an impact he can make on an offense led by Scott Frost. However, when you consider the weapons he now has to work with, he definitely has some tools in the proverbial toolbox.

He will undoubtedly have some growing pains with this wide receiver unit. Especially with the departure of JD Spielman, that will not help things. However, he has a lot to look forward to .He has playmaking weapons that he can work with. These receivers can get down the field, and make the big play. I’m excited to see what schemes he can concoct and the types of plays he could call.

In terms of this particular group of wide receivers, this coaching hire could not have, at a better time. These receivers that Nebraska football possesses are playmakers. This is a coach that has never been afraid of the big play. the combination of those two things should work out well for all involved.
