Neville chose Nebraska Saturday afternoon over a slew of top programs.

Nebraska fans have a little extra to celebrate on this Fourth of July as Rivals’ four-star prospect Latrell Neville announced his commitment to Nebraska this afternoon.

Neville, a former Virginia Tech commit, chose the Huskers over some elite programs such as Alabama, Ohio State, and Oregon, among many others

. Ever since his decommitment, the Husker staff, especially offensive coordinator Matt Lubick, has been in close and constant contact with Neville about the potential of playing in Lincoln.

Nebraska’s relentlessness in recruiting Neville has paid off, as Neville mentioned in an article from Adam Krueger:

"“I really think they harped on how much I mean to them. That was really important to me. They’ve been really consistent. I’ve built a great relationship over time with them,” Neville stated."

One of the least productive position groups of Scott Frost’s tenure thus far has been the wide receiver. Over the last two recruiting classes, it has been evident that Nebraska is trying to change that, which Neville should help tremendously in those efforts.

The program’s plan has been to add size at receiver and Neville, standing at a staggering 6-3, is just that for the Huskers. He joins a very young wide receiver group that has some notable tall wideouts such as Zavier Betts (6-2), Omar Manning (6-4), in addition to a fellow 2021 commit, Shawn Hardy, who stands at 6-3.

The addition of Neville now puts the 2021 class at 11 commits so far, which contains two wide receivers. The program may be in the mix for one more receiver in the class but adding Neville certainly fills the need for another wideout in the class.

Many analysts have predicted Neville’s commitment to the program throughout the last month and at long last, Husker fans and coaches alike can celebrate, knowing the program got their guy.

It will be interesting to see if Scott Frost and his staff will add more commitments to  future classes in the coming days. The Huskers have been hard at work trying to recruit and get the best players to come to Lincoln. Saturday’s commitment is just an example of that
