Nebraska Football: 2021 offensive line commits gaining national attention
Nebraska football is building a star-studded line for the future.
It seems like Nebraska football is recruiting well for the future. That’s what I gather from the rankings of the recruiting experts. Rivals.com put out a list of the top 2021 offensive line recruiting classes in the country. Nebraska came in at the fifth overall spot. The Big Ten is also represented on the list by Iowa, who comes in at the 10th spot.
When you think about it, it’s easy to see why Nebraska is on the list. They have been making the line a priority of theirs in recruiting. Branson Yager, Henry Lutovsky, and Teddy Prochazka are three big reasons why Nebraska is so high on the list.

In particular, I am excited for Yager. That is not to put down the other two lineman. I specifically like Yager because of his size. He measures in at six-foot-eight, 330 pounds. He will no doubt be a force on the line.
Nebraska football has stockpiled the last couple of classes with lineman. They have really seemed to make the line a priority. When you consider the talent coming in at quarterback, it’s a smart move on the part of Scott Frost and his staff to try to protect their offensive assets. The quarterback and running back positions should be the focal point of the offense in the coming years.
If Nebraska can continue to get big-time lineman to protect these players, that will help the program in the long run. I’m really excited about the potential of the 2021 class in terms of lineman. Particularly last year, the line struggled. The commitment to the line is encouraging. Think about how much better Adrian Martinez could have done last year if he had more time in the pocket. Think about how many more rushing yards Dedrick Mills could’ve run for if he had clearer running lanes.
The line wasn’t the sole reason the offense struggled at times last year. Let me make that clear. However, the struggles of the line were noticeable. Particularly against Ohio State, the line got exposed in a bad way. Granted, almost every single lineman had trouble stopping Chase Young last year. However, it was just a reaffirmation that Nebraska needed to continue to get better on the line.
Hopefully, Nebraska continues to make the line a priority. They seem to have great success in recruiting the position. Now, they have to develop the players for future success.
