Nebraska football was able to receive a major commitment from a lineman.

Nebraska football was able to pick up a commitment late Monday night for the 2021 recruiting cycle. Branson Yeager announced his commitment to Nebraska.

He is not ranked in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but he does have a ranking in the 247Sports overall rankings. He is a three-star recruit and the 15th overall player in his class from the state of Utah.

Yeager is a key get for the offensive line. He measures in at six-foot-seven, 320 pounds. In addition to Nebraska, also held offers from BYU, California, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.

Looking at what he brings to the table, he is a very good blocker. Whether it be in the passing game or the running game, he always holds his blocks. He is able to stand square with his man as soon as the ball is snapped. It’s interesting to watch him block. It almost seems like he is just standing waiting for something to happen while the defensive lineman tries to get by him. He just stays square and doesn’t move.

In terms of what he can do on run blocks, he is able to clear out his man and give the running backs space and room to move. That is going to be extremely helpful for Nebraska football in the future. With the running backs that the program has on their roster, they don’t even need a ton of space. They just need a little bit of space to get through the hole, and then they can run in the open field. With the blocking talents Yeager possesses, Nebraska running backs should not only be able to break off big runs, but find their way to the end zone.

As far as the 2021 class goes, it features several strong commitments. Currently it is ranked 41st  nationally and 12th overall in the Big Ten. However, it only has five commitments. I’ll be interested to see how they follow up this class in terms of commitments. They have made it a priority to get talent to the program, and that was very evident on Monday.
