Nebraska Basketball: Non-conference schedule gives us solid matchups
Nebraska basketball has an intriguing non-conference schedule next season.
Nebraska basketball will open a new season with a new-look roster. This roster appears to be more talented than last year’s group and things can only go up for a Fred Hoiberg-led program that finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 7-25 record.
Now, the program has players such as Kobe King and Kobe Webster in the fold. With Teddy Allen in the equation as well, this is certainly a new-Nebraska basketball roster.

When the season gets underway, Nebraska basketball will have a ton of good opponents to play. The non-conference schedule is particularly strong. Nebraska basketball will open the 2020-21 season on November 10 at Pinnacle Bank Arena against Cleveland State.
Some other highlights in the schedule include Nebraska basketball taking part in the Big Ten/ACC challenge the week of November 30. Then, the month of December leads to some interesting matchups. An extremely anticipated one is when Nebraska takes on Creighton on December 12. As you may recall, Nebraska basketball had a tough time keeping up last year.
Some other games that month include the Huskers taking on Kansas State on December 19. This is going to be an exciting match up as one of the oldest rivalries will be renewed. I’ll be interested to see how Nebraska basketball does against an opponent like Kansas State.
This seems like a quality non-conference schedule. There does not appear to be many fluff games here. Nebraska is going to need all of the wins they can get before they take on the grueling conference slate. They really struggled in particular in that area. Finishing the season with a 2-15 record, their only wins came against Purdue on December 15 and Iowa on January 7. Hopefully, they can improve in that area.
I certainly have confidence in the coaching staff for the second year. This program had to undergo a major rebuild, and it should make for another interesting year. I truly do think that they will be better than last year. The bar is not really set high at the moment. Hopefully, they will be warmed up for conference play, and get at least five wins next year.
The conference is hard, there’s no doubt about that. However, I believe that Nebraska basketball will be more prepared than they were last year. Last year was a feeling out process. Although this year is going to more of the same, Fred Hoiberg has already been through a rebuild once. He’ll have more experience to do it again.
