Nebraska Baseball: Program lands flamethrower from Texas A&M
Nebraska Baseball landed a new pitcher on Monday.
Nebraska baseball was able to add a transfer player to its roster on Monday, as Cam Wynne announced that he would transfer to Lincoln. The former Texas A&M pitcher made the announcement via Twitter.
This name may be familiar to many as Wynne played his high school baseball at Lincoln High.
Wynne was originally thought to be a setup man and closer for the Aggies. He appeared in two games this spring before the season concluded. His best pitch is his fastball, and it has been known to reach 98 and 99 miles per hour in bullpen sessions.
At first glance, this seems like a great pickup for Nebraska baseball. They had a ton of trouble with their pitching last year. It was kind of playing with fire in a way. The bats were extremely hot for Nebraska throughout the first couple of games of the season. It was the bullpen that couldn’t seem to hold on to leads throughout the course of games. Every time a reliever would come out of the ‘pen it would always seem like an adventure. Hopefully, Wynne can put a stop to that.

In any event, Bolt has familiarity with this pitcher. That could bode well moving forward, as then the head coach can put the pitcher in positions to succeed. Hopefully, Nebraska baseball will be able to find him a role that he can excel in. They desperately need bullpen help, and this is certainly a step in the right direction. One has to wonder if they will add more arms in the future.
In terms of the roster itself, I wouldn’t mind if Nebraska baseball continued to add arms via the transfer market. This bullpen needs some work. There are talented arms in the bullpen, but they just couldn’t seem to get the job done this year.
I’ll be interested to see the makeup of this team when play resumes. They have a ton of talent, and they also have a ton of areas that could use veteran depth. Last year, Nebraska baseball had a lot of seniors on the roster. That allowed them to enjoy a nice late-season run that concluded in the Big Ten Tournament. This year, it’s about finding the right pieces for a new regime. Hopefully, Nebraska baseball can build on the games they did play from this season and carry it with them when play is able to resume.
